Daily Gratitude Journal

Today is the 47th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Regardless of your political viewpoint, his murder was a crime, a dark page in the annals of American history.

I was a freshman in college, and we were stunned and horrified at the news. It was like an end of something innocent, and an introduction into the sometimes bleak world of adulthood.

But I am grateful that our nation has a system in place so that the violent death of a leader does not spell anarchy and doom. Grateful that we can count on order amid potential chaos.

God bless America!

If you are a certain age, and someone says, "And what were you doing when you heard that President Kennedy had been shot?" you can tell them exactly where you were,

and what you were doing. And you've never forgotten it!
