We have not been to the movies in quite awhile. So when The Butler finally made it to the Krikorian, Harry and I hustled down there. I'd like to be able to report that we walked there - but since it was 97 degrees at 7:30 p.m., we drove!!
It was a good film - and we both enjoyed it. I wonder, though, if the enjoyment came in part because the events the film portrayed were events we had read about in the papers ourselves!
The more years I teach, the more I have to re-create history so that my students can see the stories we read in context. And I am amazed at how much history I myself have lived through.
Food for thought.
If you haven't seen the film, it's worth the trip!
