Countin' down till Friday
Actually I should be counting down to Sunday or Monday - I am going to Davis to see Phoebe. Carol and I are taking a little road trip North. Should be fun. But I may not post again until I get back.
I told Dad that I wanted to go through all my pictures and do "groups" - like all the baptism photos, all the Ides photos, all the Christmas photos, all the Easter photos, all the Scout Pancake Breakfast photos.
So here's a category that might be fun - "Dad in the bed with grandkids" - I wonder why it's him? Maybe I just sit on the couch when I read to kids - Dad curls up with pillows and comforters.
Anyway, here are two to start my collection!

Tiwesdaeg (Anglo Saxon)
Some more St. George memories - from the "litte kids" that is. This was the summer before Phoebe and David's wedding and we met in St. George to do the invites, etc. David wondered why we all thought going to St. George was so much fun. I think he still wonders!
This shot is from Zion's National Park - at the Narrows.

Monday, Monday, and it's almost Tuesday!!
I scan through all the old photos and think, "On Eliza's b-day I should post this," and "On Halloween I should post this," and "On Easter I should post this," - I'm sure you get my drift.
So what should be my criteria? Should there be a criteria? Or should it just be serendipitous? Or should I have a master plan? What shape would that master plan take? Maybe by families? By years? By events? By individuals? By gosh this is getting out of hand!!
Here's a shot of some of us in front of the house on Lime - actually we are waving at the house on Lime. The occasion was blessing Eliza. Which makes it July of 1983.
The criteria here is obvious: Thin people are happy people!! (I am always amazed at how thin I was in another life!! Harry reinforces that too - I might say, "If I lost 25 pounds - to get to my wedding day weight - I'd be a stick." And he says, "You were a stick. But a cute stick!")

Thors Day and the Livin' Is Easy
I like to mix a metaphor now and then - and song lyrics too!
It is late - I came from my class. The best thing that can be said about my class is that I am getting a lot of crocheting done!
Speaking of classes and teaching - here's a pix of Dad in his MTC days - only then it was the LTM - and he was a teacher.
He looks so young - of course, it's from 1968, so he ought to look young!
And when was the last time you saw him in a short-sleeved white shirt?

Tuesday Times
There are 16 Young Women in the photo from Girls' Camp 1998 - except I am thinking now that it is 2000, because I am almost certain it is from right after Harry's wedding - because of the young lady who joined us after her stepmom was so impressed with the lovely young women who served at the reception.
At any rate, there are four young women there about whom I have no current information. 3 of them are non-members and one could be active now for all I know.
Five of them are in a not-very-good place. Three of those five fall under my jurisdiction as Relief Society President, and it saddens me that we have not been able to effect any change in them.
So that leaves seven young women who are moving forward in their lives and making wise choices and giving us much to rejoice about. They are all at different points in pursuing degrees in higher education. Two have married in the temple. One has served an honorable mission. They are happy, resourceful, righteous young women. I am proud to have been their leader for many years at Girls' Camp. I delight in knowing them.
But I am still sad when I think of the nine.

Monday, Monday
In honor of all the snow we came from - arguably not an incredible amount - but I haven't been dealing with snow for a while - here's a shot of Phoebe, Dad and Noah in the snow at Brian Head - 1990 something - it was July as I recall - and we were playing in the snow! It must have been '92 or 3 - I really need to get my photos in order so I can be a bit more accurate.

Woden's Day once more!
This may be it until Sunday night - we are off to Moab for the big race. It will be fun to see Eliza, Matt and Hannah. And to get away from it all - even if that means a 9 hour car ride!
Here are two pictures - of me with my siblings long ago - and Dad with his parents and siblings long ago - maybe about the same time long ago!! (We are talking the 40's folks!!)

"All the world's been a stage for a long time!"
A weekend of drama reminded me of my proclivity for "dressing up" - this is a picture from a girls' choice dance in high school. My friends Patsy and Anne wore the gorilla suits and I was the clown (we didn't ask anyone obviously!) It actually was a good ploy - I got asked to dance more that night than I had ever been asked to dance before!
One of my favorite movies in high school was "A Thousand Clowns" with Jason Robards. Kind of a non sequitur, but kind of not too!

Beward of Tuesday!
Here are some shots from the very first Ides of March party - Ronnie's birthday party at the Hill's house in SLC in 1971 I think.
I really should to a whole book on all the Ides parties - but we actually went several years without doing them.
And the ones I have found tonight are pretty random. So here are a couple more.
Someday I will get my photos organized - but it might not be as much fun as the current chaotic condition!

Monday Night is FHE
Sunday, March 05, 2006
It's Sunday (the day we got ready for yesterday!)
Had a big crowd for dinner today. (Actually we had barbequed chicken and garlic potatoes - the crowd came to eat it!)
Bonny, Bruce and girls joined us, as did Harry, Dawn and kids and Dawn's neighbor Paula. Also our friend Greg came too. 15 for dinner counts as a crowd. A fun time.
Anyway, this is the only picture that came close! I'm not sure whose birthday it is. It is 1988 I think.

Saturday Will Soon Be Over
These days do get away from me. I tend to sleep in on Saturdays - since it's just not possible any other day of the week. And then the late start morphs into a pretty lazy day. Then around 3 or 4 I say, "Ohmygosh, I need to go to the cleaners, and the grocery store, and the ward to run off the newsletters, and I was going to do all this visiting today, and it's fast Sunday tomorrow so we'd better have dinner soon!"
So I'm up late - I'd better hustle before the Sabbath comes!
The picture has nothing to do with the above posting - it's one of Harry and Ronnie Horton and some unknown guy who I think worked for the Deseret News. This was a "staged" photo for some service project that was going on - repairing toys for tots or something. Ronnie always knew how to get his picture in the paper - he had connections. It must be 1970.

Friday Night at the Movies
Dad and I are going to the show tonight - Noah is well - worked an almost-8-hour day today - the young just bounce back!!
Anyway, speaking of Noah, he and I were perusing some of the pictures I had scanned and he said, "Doesn't David look like Napoleon Dynamite there?"
So what do you think? The photo's a hoot anyway!
And we are seeing "Joyeux Noel," up for Best Foreign Film - I'll give you my opinion when I get back!
