Friday Night Fun!!

Here's the 1977 Easter Shot from Centerville that Blogger wouldn't post when I did an Easter laout. I love the looks on Bonny and Harry's faces!! I'm not sure what was going on - maybe Dad was making faces at them. I made my dress and Bonny's dress - and I was pregnant with Phoebe. The shot is from Harris' back yard - which only Bonny and Harry have a true memory of - or maybe Scott and Karen do too.

Wednesday, Thursday - where does the time go??

I was scannning through the pictures in my computer and this caught my eye - everyone's seen it - but I was thinking how I have my own "little women" and how much fun they are.

Don't get me wrong, I love the boys - all of them - and adore the daughter-in-law - but having 5 wonderful sisters myself, I'm just happy when I think of all the good times we have had and undoubtedly will have - with my sisters and my daughters - and my granddaughters too.

Louisa May Alcott, my muse at times like this, said, ""I want to do something spendid . . . something heroic or wonderful, that won't be forgotten after I'm dead . . . .I think I shall write books."

Well, I haven't written any books, but I certainly think of our family as something splendid!

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday - I'm getting behind!!

Daily posting may go the way of the rotary dial phone! Here's a shot of my younger siblings dressing up for Halloween. This was the year I stayed home fall semester to save up to go to France - I helped them dress up - it was certainly a simpler time!! (it was 1965)

Saturday is a Special Day!

We had a great day today - picked up Grandma Terrill and drove to Lake Forest for Chuck Taylor's baptism. For those unfamiliar with the story, Chuck, son of Bill and Virginia Taylor, was excommunicated many years ago. Over a year ago, his stepmother gave his current wife a copy of Marvelous Work and a Wonder. She and Chuck have a 7-year old son, Ethan. When Yvette read the part about being sealed to her family, she told Chuck, "I want us to be sealed."

And so began Chuck's journey back into the church. Along the way, his wife took the lessons and joined the church. And yesterday she went with Bill and his wife and received her endowments.

His dad Bill, Grandma Terrill's brother, performed the baptism and confirmation. Jack and Thalia, Chuck and the Bishop's wife sang "Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy." It was great to be with family and share a special time. Bill Taylor also spoke - it was enlightening and entertaining. He lauded Grandma Terrill for her steadiness and great example to all the family. He and Grandma T. not only look a lot alike, they have many of the same mannerisms.

After the baptism, Chuck and his wife bore their testimonies. Yvette is a lovely woman - everytime I get involved with extended family that I haven't had much or any contact with, I am impressed anew at how strong family ties really are.

The picture is of the group - including Larry and Diane Davis - Larry is Virginia's brother and she raised him with her own children. Also Chuck's daughter Kasey is in the picture too. McLean Taylor, Jack and Thalia's son was there too.

It was a great experience - Dad and I were glad we got to be part of the occasion.

Thursday, Friday

I had found this picture a few weeks ago and thought I do a montage of birthday shots for Eliza's birthday on Wednesday.

But I just found it today - and am too tired to go looking for more.

So one will have to suffice - and it will be belated - but Bonny was talking about the 17th anniversary of meeting Bruce - so here's the 17th anniversary of meeting Eliza!!

Tuesday, Wednesday - Marathon Memories

This is probably the only marathon photo of me you will ever see! (It was taken at a booth at Hopkinton where these little teeny boppers were raising money for cancer research.)

Saturday, Sunday, Monday - more catching up!

I have been so busy posting on our exploits that I have certainly neglected my daily fave foto feature.

But here are some shots of Boston - the park where I waited for Dad, the subway - that goes along with a loud, loud sound (but no Mr.Gonzago) and a snapshot of me blogging - what else?

We are trying to watch a movie while Dad tries to forget about his aches and pains - but there were tech problems - and the techie hasn't come back yet - Dad may be sound asleep by then - I wonder why?

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - time to catch up!

I am getting more proficient with Dad's laptop - at first I was going nuts! So I will post some more about our adventures. (this is funny because I just accidentally erased a long, well-written post that I more than likely cannot recapture!!)

So, these are shots of scenery and cemeteries and monuments and houses - it "looks" different here - and it is lovely and green - in spite of the bare branches on the trees. There are lots fewer people in the areas we've been traversing. That is a change. There is also a shot of Dad in our hotel room!!

I LOVE the houses here - at least the stately old ones - and the stately new ones built to look like old ones!

I love the feeling of "oldness" too - I was telling Dad that I have studied and read about the American Revolution for many years and there is something about standing on the spot where the Minutemen fired on the King's soldiers that makes it all very different from just reading a history book.

One shot is of the original foundations of the Buttrick home from 1667 - we're talking old here!

I am looking forward to trekking back here we go visit Matt and Eliza after they move to DC - and seeing lots of other stuff too!

I could get used to traveling!!

Tiwesdaeg

This may be the last post until next Tuesday when we return. I will post several small photos to entertain you and to keep the comments coming! Some old Clayton family shots - a 4 generation one with Bonny, me, Grandma Stevens and Grandma Clayton, one from 1945 or 6 of Joan, Lyn and me, one from 1947 that includes my mom and Alice, one from 1962 when Lyn was on his misssion - it might be 1963,and one of Grandma and Grandpa Clayton with their first few grandkids- Bonny, Betsy, Harry, Erika, Michael, Sean, and Paul.

Happy Easter one and all!

Monday Musings

One of the "landscaping" shots was this one of Hannah at the sliding door - obviously hoping someone would let her out. I love the "bubba pants" as Dad would always call the plastic pants you all wore over your cloth diapers. Hannah should take note - next time there's a game where they ask you to come up something about you that no one else knows, she can write "I wore cloth diapers with bubba pants!" Ought to be a winner!!

Actually, you could all say it, but most kids wore cloth when Bonny, Harry and Phoebe were babies. I tried disposables with Eliza, but she had an allergic reaction to them, so I didn't bother with Hannah and Noah - although I finally had the luxury of a diaper service with Noah.

That particular image of Hannah is one that I always recall - a moment, frozen in time!

Sunday, Sunday!!

Here's a real blast from the past - when was the last time you thought of this little guy - Hiccup by name?

For the uninformed, it was Bonny's parakeet - who escaped into the parakeet heaven in the sky one day.

Saturday is a Special Day!

While searching for the picture of the little kids climbing in the cupboard in the bedroom, I came across this fetching family foto- not the best shot of everyone - but certainly a representative one! Must be 1987 since Noah seems to be a wee one!

Friday night - it wasn't always like this - in fact it hasn't been like this for a number of years!!

Dad and I went shopping and to dinner tonight - then we had to go pick up the elders at the street fair. Pretty exciting! (at least I didn't have to cook - funny what thrills you as you get older!!)

This is one of my all-time favorite photos of the two of us. If there had been a tradition back in 1967 of including photos in wedding invites, this would have been my choice. (I don't know when that tradition began - it wasn't around in '67!)

This was at a "crepe party" - sort of like a fondue party but much better! We were quite the socializers in our BYU days. The party - held at Campus Plaza - was a huge success - when I find the other photos taken there, I will include them. It will be a highlight of your day I am sure!!

I still like crepes, still love Dad, and once again have short, chemically lightened hair!

Thors Day and a trek down Memory Lane!

On her Hero Poster, Eliza had this shot of Dad with the newborn Ara Grace. It's a fave of mine too!

Wednesday is Wonderful!

The aforementioned poster that Eliza had made (see The Terrill Connection and my recent post there - I still haven't learned to link!) also included these two family shots - one is a fave of mine - and the other is a least fave you might say. Once again I am not sure of the years, but one is pre-mission for Harry F. and one is post mission - I'm sure you can guess!

Tiwesdaeg

I really love how Tuesday looks in Anglo Saxon. Tonight's post is Hannah and Noah during their Mayflower years - at a couple of "high points" in their illustrious careers! Some things never change do they?! I was meeting with the RSP teacher from Mayflower - I hardly know any of the names there anymore - another sign that the years are flying by!

At any rate, Hannah is getting the Colors of Unity Award from Mayor Bartlett (whose grandson is now my student by the by) and the award was for a drawing she did portraying unity. Noah is performing at some show - maybe a talent show? Or a pageant or class play of some kind?

I really do need to start identifying photos soon or it will be a real task to figure out what they are! (A task my memory is already struggling with!! - sorry about ending the sentence with a preposition - should have said "A task with which my memory is already struggling.")

Monday NIGHT and it's still LIGHT!!

I do hate the time change in the spring. When the alarm goes off at 6 a.m., my body screams "It's really 5!!" I suppose it didn't help that I'm coming off a weekend road trip - something that can be fatiguing.

Which has nothing to do with tonight's picture - I just wanted to vent! Here's a photo of the three "bebes of 2004" and their lovely Mamas. It was taken at Dad's 60th b-day party.

They are all getting big - hardly babies anymore!

Hallelujuah!!

They now do the Messiah Sing-along at Easter time - so we went tonight - invited our neighbors - he was working but his wife came along. As usual, it was great! (Aaaaamen, aaaaamen!!)

Blogging With Henry

Henry and I were blogging and he wanted to see how a picture got on the blog. So, here it is!!
